A place where everyone can play:
Roseville playgrounds to serve all abilities

Affirming Roseville’s commitment to the disabled community, the Roseville Parks and Recreation Department is counting on strong community support to create three “universally accessible playgrounds” — places where children and parents of all abilities can play side-by-side.

While all city parks were designed to meet Americans with Disabilities Act guidelines, universally accessible playgrounds provide truly barrier-free play for all visitors. Rubberized surfacing and wide walkways and ramps provide access to all play areas while tactile and auditory elements entertain the senses. In addition to building a new universally accessible playground at Mahany Park, plans are for the city’s other regional parks, Royer Park and Maidu Park, to be transformed into barrier-free, sensory-rich areas as well.

Roseville Host Lions and Sunrise Rotary have donated $10,000 to the project. Donations of any amount are welcome and sponsorship opportunities are available. To donate, volunteer, or find out more information, visit www.roseville.ca.us/parks or contact project manager, Jeff Dubchansky, Asst. Parks and Recreation Director, at jdubchansky@roseville.ca.us or 774-5245.

ROSEVILLE WATER PARK

Roseville council approves an $11.7 million aquatic center featuring two indoor pools to begin construction in March 2008.

The City Council contracted with Placerville-based Carter-Kelly Inc. for the Central Park Aquatic Center on Fairway Drive next to Nugget Market in Roseville.

Plans for the 23-acre park also include softball and soccer fields, picnic areas, basketball courts and children's play area.

CVS Pharmacy

Take a look at the latest renderings of the new CVS Pharmacy slated to go at the corner of Blue Oaks and Woodcreek Oaks. Plans are almost complete and will be approved by City Council in an informal review soon.

While plans for the pharmacy are already approved, the elevation of the building has been re-worked to follow the look and feel of our Safeway center, thanks to many of our neighbors who provided feedback on this matter.

If you have any questions or feedback about these plans please contact Mike Isom at misom@roseville.ca.gov.
