Neighborhood WATCH

UPDATE: 7/14 -
We experienced a backyard intruder at (blank) McCloud Way at around 12:30am Sunday morning, July 13th. Our son was awakened by the sound of our side gate being opened. He went into the adjacent bedroom and saw a man walk into our backyard. Moments later he heard our next door neighbors dog's beginning to bark. He quickly called 911 and Roseville police came out to check it out. No one was found. Since it was dark and the side outside house light was not on, we have no description of the intruder.

We have also seen new "gang" type of graffiti under the bridge on Woodcreek and on the walking path towards the industrial park. And my wife has caught several teenagers hanging out under the bridge recently. She quickly kicks them out whenever she sees them. Because of past criminal activity at this location, we will be VERY diligent in making sure people or teenagers are not hanging out under the bridge on the walking trail whenever we see them.

Safety Suggestion: Put a padlock on your side gate to prevent intruders from just "walking in". Also install motion-sensored lights on the sides and back of your home as a deterant and alarm indication to you that someone unwanted is in your yard.

UPDATE: 6/11 -
There has been one attempted burglary and two successful burglaries in our immediate area this past week.

There was an incident on Northpark that was an attempted burglary, nothing was taken from the residence. The side dining room window was smashed and that caused the alarm to activate. A dark green 4 door sedan with two white males was seen at the time the alarm was sounding. One of the males had long hair.

The point of entry for the Clay Isle burglary may have been thru the side door of the garage, the deadbolt did not appear to be used. The home was ransacked and many items taken. No suspect information.

The point of entry for the burglary on Big Bear appears to also be the side garage door. Pillow cases were used in the Clay Isle and the Big Bear burglaries to carry the stolen items out of the residence. A white Suburban type vehicle was seen in front of the Big Bear residence around the time of that burglary.

Everyone should make sure all doors and windows are locked, even when they are at home. Also call the police immediately if they seen suspicious vehicles or persons.

Neighborhood Watch Update: Several captains have held their neighborhood meetings and once we have a majority we will be able to order and place our signs at the entrances of our neighborhoods. However, this will not solve everything.

We all need to be aware of what is going on around us, watch for suspicious vehicles or people and if you are home, make it obvious that you are home by parking your car outside. These burglaries seem to have happened shortly after people left for work.

UPDATE: 4/24 -
Another house was robbed around Thursday, April 24 in the Diamond Creek part of Roseville near Blue Oaks / Woodcreek Oaks. The burglars removed their sliding glass door (the stick in the door did not stop them), then went into the house and opened their garage door, parked their car/truck in the garage, and shut the door so they could proceed to rob the house without anyone seeing them.

They stole all of their valuables, including jewelry, TVs, electronics, etc. The neighbors said they thought they saw a black truck with a camper shell on it in the area, but no one knows if it's related to the robbery or not. The burglars appeared to take their time and didn't seem concerned about taking their things in broad daylight. They even spent some time eating their food and smoking in their house. They initially thought it might be someone they know, however there have been other similar robberies in the Roseville area recently (according to the police).

It appears the robbers had been watching their house for several days to figure out the best time to break in. Although they did not have an alarm on their house, they have now installed one and plan to use it daily.

If you have an alarm, it is recommended you use it when someone isn't home and if you are home, leave your car parked outside so they can see you are home.

This is the exact situation to keep an eye out for suspicious cars that seem to be "hanging out" in your neighborhood but don't seem to belong. They may just be checking out patterns of when people are leaving and coming home to find a "good candidate" for another robbery.

THIS IS WHY WE HAVE A NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH!!! We all need to be aware of our surroundings and watch for strange behavior.

The Quality of our neighborhoods and city begin with you!!
